Let's talk >

In the evolution of technology, more and more companies are embracing the kind of environment that the digital age has brought to this generation and beyond. Digital technology has practically revolutionized the very essence of the word productivity in the workplace, putting the employees and generally, the company to its full capacity.

The Human Resources Information System (HRIS), sometimes called Human Resources Management System, Human Capital Management or what have you, is a latest software application technology that makes the life of many companies all over the world easier. Imagine combining what used to be a tons of data files into one single data base is indeed a revolution in Human Resources (HR).

Combining a number of systems and processes is a leap frog in HR functions with better HR, business process, and other data management solutions.

By the name itself, HRIS is a fusion of human resources and information technology in a software that allows a smooth management and process flow of HR activities such but not limited to accounting, management, and payroll. This data solution, for one, allows a company to plan its HR costs more effectively, manage and control them properly without the need for more complicated resources that supposed to go with it.

To be more specific, basic data management includes the following:

  1. Employees’ Basic Information;
  2. Employees’ Government Numbers (i.e. SSS, TIN, etc.) connected to the payroll;
  3. Employees’ 201 File (Regularization, Movement, Promotions, etc.);
  4. Timesheet & Payroll; and
  5. Expat Employees’ Work Permit and Visa Information for easy monitoring and renewal;
  6. Recruitment;
  7. Performance Management; and
  8. Learning and Development, among others.

Essentially, HRIS is a software package that can be run either by the company’s own IT infrastructure or by external premises called cloud-based which is easier to update.

  • Record-keeping. The software keeps track of changes to anything related to employees’ information. Everything about personnel data are tracked on record.
  • Compliance. As mentioned, stored data about employees can easily be retrieved in case of theft, fraud, or other misbehaviors. It also bears contact information in case of accidents, citizens identification information, including government numbers, and expiration dates for mandatory certification and pother permits.
  • Efficiency. Putting everything in a system does not only provide accuracy but it saves time.
  • HR strategyThe system also allows a company to easily track data required to advance the HR and business strategy.
  • Self-Service HR. One of the significant benefits of HRIS is the ability of both employees and managers to manage their own affairs such as filing of leaves, reimbursement, budget monitoring, etc. The system provides a good employee experience ibn a user-friendly set-up.

Generally, HRIS spells productivity to small and big businesses alike that translates to efficiency towards their success.
